Descriptions of Officers
Continuing Medical Education Committee
Purpose
- To offer, plan and present continuing medical education seminars for ConnAPA members, non-members, and others as appropriate.
- To provide a forum for ConnAPA business meetings.
Make Up
The CME Committee is made up of fellow members of ConnAPA selected by the Chair and representatives of the management organization. Ex officio members include the President and Regional Directors.
Responsibilities of Chief Delegate
- Meet as necessary to discuss, plan, and organize the main CME of the organization, the Charter Oak Conference.
- Organize the Regional Representatives and provide information and support so they may produce CME activities in their respective districts.
- Pursue hotel negotiations with assistance from the management organization.
- Identify and confirm speakers and presentation topics.
- Provide thank-you letters and speaker evaluation information following each CME event.
- Arrange for payment of speakers.
- Conduct public relation activity for CME events with assistance from Public Relations Committee.
- Prepare brochures and mailings in advance of CME events.
- Oversee mail and on site registration.
- Apply for CME credit approval through AAPA.
- Identify and coordinate social events associated with CME activity.
- Coordinate A/V needs of speakers.
- Conduct conference speaker evaluation.
- Prepare and distribute conference syllabi, nametags, final agenda, and evaluation forms.
- Prepare annual CME budget with assistance from Treasurer.
- Provide a report to the President biannually.
- Provide a report to the general membership at the annual meeting.
Competencies
- Excellent communication skills including ability to speak in public.
- Familiarity with Microsoft or similar software, e.g. Word, PowerPoint & Publisher.
- Interest in CME.
- Willingness to participate in negotiations with vendors.
Time Commitment
- Committee members must be present for the annual Charter Oak Conference.
- Attend regional CME as necessary to provide assistance to Regional Directors
- This Committee meets or holds conference calls frequently in advance of the Charter Oak Conference.
- One to two onsite visits to Charter Oak Conference site.
