Descriptions of Officers
Constitution & Bylaws Committee
Purpose
- To ensure that ConnAPA functions in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws as recorded.
- To ensure that ConnAPA remains in compliance with the AAPA as a constituent chapter.
Make-up
The Committee is made up fellow ConnAPA members and other parties selected by the Chair. The President is an ex-officio member of the Committee.
Responsibilities
- Perform periodic Review Constitution and Bylaws and present recommendations for any necessary revisions to the Board of Directors.
- Respond in timely fashion to inquiries regarding issues of relevance to Constitution and Bylaws.
- Meet as necessary to conduct business of the Committee.
- Report activity to Board of Directors.
- Post necessary communications via appropriate format to ConnAPA membership.
- Provide ongoing surveillance of ConnAPA policies and procedures to ensure adherence to Constitution and Bylaws
- Perform duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
- Document all activities of the Committee.
- Review all requests to revise or amend the Constitution and Bylaws and draft appropriate language.
- Collaborate with standing and ad-hoc committees of ConnAPA on issues pertaining to policy and procedure as defined in Constitution and bylaws.
- Provide a report to the President biannually.
- Provide a report to the general membership at the annual meeting.
- Establish an annual budget.

Time Commitment
- Meet at direction of President to review new bylaws proposals.
- Meet at direction of Chair for periodic review of Constitution & Bylaws.
Annual Calendar
July
- chairperson of committee is appointed/re-appointed by President
August
- recruit, if necessary, and identify members of committee to Board of Directors
September
- disseminate most current copy of Constitution and bylaws to committee members
October
- brainstorm meeting (in person, via conference call, electronically) ideas for anticipated changes/revisions to Constitution and bylaws
December
- submit changes (if any) to Board of Directors
March
- meeting and review of Constitution and Bylaws If changes proposed, draft explanatory letter to membership regarding changes
May
- verify compliance with AAPA policy as constituent chapter prior to AAOPA annual meeting
Procedures
Amendments to Consitution and bylaws shall be decided by a two-thirds majority of total votes cast
