Newsletter Editor

Purpose

The Newsletter, through the leadership of the Editor, shall be the ConnAPA vehicle for communication of information and ideas of importance to members of the Academy.

Make Up

The Newsletter Editor is a fellow member of the Academy and member of the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

  1. Accumulate and edit of articles for the quarterly newsletter.
  2. Work in conjunction with the production manager to perform fine point editing, general layout, printing and mailing of the Newsletter.
  3. Recruit articles and photos from members and Committee Chairs.
  4. Collect assigned articles and photos from designated members.
  5. Write articles as appropriate.
  6. Edit all articles including use of spell-check and word count.
  7. Maintain publication schedule of 4 times per year.
  8. Attend scheduled BOD meetings.
  9. Provide a report to the President biannually.
  10. Provide a report to the general membership at the annual meeting.
  11. Establish an annual budget.

Competencies

  1. Excellent communication skills especially writing and editing.
  2. Knowledge of word processing and publisher software.
  3. Leadership skills.
  4. Attention to detail and timelines.
  5. Administrative skills.
  6. Interest and experience in newsletter production.

Time Commitment

Requires 10-15 hours of work during the month the newsletter is published.

Additional Requirements

  1. Solicit written article a month in advance, then give 2 and 1-week notices of impending deadline.
  2. Submit plain text, not formatted copy.
  3. Submit materials at once via email to the production manager 7-10 days prior to publication deadline.
  4. Submit a master list of all materials to be included in the Newsletter via email to the production manager.
