Student Director

Policy

There will be at least one representative on the Student Affairs Committee from each physician assistant training program in the state. The Student Affairs Committee will serve to communicate student activities to the Board while communicating Board activities to the students.

The Student Affairs Committee will elect a formal liaison to the Board of Directors to serve as Student Director. This member will have voting privileges in issues pertaining to the Academy but no vote on issues pertaining to the AAPA.

The Student Director will represent the assigned constituency.

Responsibilities

  1. Serve as liaison between the BOD and the constituency.
  2. Submit a written or oral report at each BOD meeting.
  3. Assist fellow officers as needed.
  4. Submit an article at least annually for the ConnAPA newsletter.
  5. Attend all officially designated Board and Academy business meetings.
  6. Uphold all the responsibilities of a Board Member as outlined in the ConnAPA Bylaws.
  7. Maintain and facilitate open communication between the Board and ConnAPA membership.
  8. Serve as a member of a committee or committee chairperson if appointed.
  9. Serve as ex officio member of the Legislative and CME Committees.
  10. Periodically review and recommend revision of this position description as needed.
  11. Periodically review and recommend revision of the ConnAPA policy manual as needed.
  12. Provide a report to the President biannually.
  13. Provide a report to the general membership at the annual meeting.
  14. Establish an annual budget.

Time Commitment

This position requires approximately 1-2 hours a month.
Attend and represent ConnAPA at student events and meetings.

Other Considerations

The Student Director is the primary liaison to his/her fellow student members of ConnAPA. As a leadership role this is meant to include decision making as well a learning process for development of leadership and organizational skills. Thus, the Student Director should view his/her role as an excellent vehicle to become more involved in constituent chapter or national organization activities. The Student Director has an opportunity to become a very visible leader of ConnAPA because of the role of liaison to the constituency.

  • Schedule Meeting with all Regional Directors, CME Chair, and Legislative Chair as necessary. Review application process for CME
